Description

The Yoga Yajnavalkya is probably the most authentic and important classical text on yoga, second to the Yogasutras of Patanjali. Many other Yoga texts, including the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, have borrowed verses from this text. The Yoga Yajnavalkya takes the form of a conversation between the sage Yajnavalkya and his wife Gargi. An important feature of this text is the comprehensive discussion of Pranayama in as many as hundred verses. This translation of the text includes the original Sanskrit verses in Devanagari script with translation, footnotes, chapter summaries, and a detailed introduction explaining various terms and concepts that the reader will come across in the text.
