Description

MW is a dark, non-supernatural thriller by Osamu Tezuka, serialized in 1976 in Big Comic. It follows Michio Yuki, a handsome scion of a Kabuki family who climbs the worlds of finance and politics by day while murdering women and children by night, using his skills as a female impersonator to disguise himself. A childhood exposure to a secret nerve agent gives him a chilling power and a conscience-free drive. Two men pursue him: a brilliant public prosecutor trying to build a case, and a tormented Catholic priest who shares Yuki’s past. Set against postwar Japan and the ongoing U.S. military presence, the story explores themes of power, morality, and social change. Serialized beginning in 1976, MW is widely regarded as one of Tezuka’s darkest, most transgressive works.
