Though not the subject of this book his own life is a dramatic story of surrender, passion and hard work. Bonnke was born in Germany in 1940 and grew up facing the hardships of post-war Europe. He came to Christ at the age of nine and in 1967 God's call to the mission field took him to Lesotho, the tiny land-locked country within South Africa. There God gave him a vision, the vision of 'a blood-washed Africa' and his life was changed. He knew he must preach the Gospel wherever God led, and the ministry of Christ for all Nations was born. The Great Commission, Our Ambition Bonnke began holding evangelistic meetings with a tent accommodating 800 people. As attendance steadily increased, larger tents had to be purchased to accommodate the crowds. Finally, in 1984 he commissioned the construction of the world's largest mobile structure a tent capable of seating 34,000 people. Within two years even this huge canopy could no longer contain the crowds that were streaming to hear the Gospel. After Blantyre, Malawi the massive tent was no longer used because a crowd of 150,000 people attended this single meeting, more than four times the capacity of the tent. Over thirty years later, the Christ for all Nations team has held crusades around the world, published 178 million books in 138 languages, and trained countless leaders in Holy Spirit directed evangelism.
