The Moving Finger

The letter arrived, I remember, at breakfast. It was a local letter with a typewritten address. I opened it before the two with London postmarks. Inside, printed words and letters had been cut out and gummed to a sheet of paper. For a minute or two I stared at the words without taking them in. Then I gasped... At first the malicious, anonymous letters cause only terror. But then they bring about a death. The question is – who will be the next victim…?

Binding of book is intact. Many crease marks and small waterstains on covers of book. Some tanning on edges of book. Small black spot on top of fore edge of book. Annotation in pencil and small waterstain on inside of front cover. Some foxing on insides of covers as well. Some waterstains, spots of ink and foxing on certain pages.
