Beautifully illustrated, 224 pages. Full-color and b&w illustrations throughout. Dorothy Wordsworth was the sister of William Wordsworth. This lady was one of the most gifted writers of her time and the intimate diaries she kept around 1800, in the Lake District of England, are a superb depiction of rural life in a previous age. Here are descriptions of wildflowers and birds, village fairs and markets, days of fishing and domestic chores. This is the complete edition, directly attributed to the surviving journals (one volume has never been found), with beautiful paintings by noted artists throughout.
