Description

Umskiptar is Burzum's ninth studio album, released May 21, 2012 on Byelobog Productions. Often described as a return to Vikernes's roots, the record emphasizes atmosphere and vocal delivery, with all lyrics drawn from the Norse poem Völuspá and sung in Old Norse. Recorded at Grieghallen Studio in Bergen in September 2011, the album was produced by Pytten, Davide Bertolini and Burzum and features 11 tracks including Blóðstokkinn, Joln, Alfadanz and Surtr Sunnan. The cover art reproduces Peter Nicolai Arbo's painting Nótt, underscoring a metamorphosis theme that pervades the music.
