Relativity: The Special and the General Theory

Einstein's special theory of relativity was first published in 1905 in the article "Zur Elektrodynamik bewegter Körper” (“On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies”) in the journal “Annalen der Physik”. His general theory first appeared in 1916 in the article “Grundlage der allgemeinen Relativitätstheorie” (“Basis of the General Theory of Relativity”), also in “Annalen der Physik”. “Relativity: The Special and the General Theory” was first published in Germany in 1916 by Verlag von Friedrich Viewhweg & Sohn under the title “Über die spezielle und allgemeine Relativitätstheorie”. It was first translated into English in 1920 and published by Methuen & Co. in the UK and Henry Holt & Co. in the USA. The text of this edition follows that of the enlarged fifteenth edition published by Methuen in 1954, with minor emendations.

Marks of wear on slipcase, including faint scratches and a tear on top right corner. Bit of fraying of edges of covers, a bit of ink and a crease mark on top right corner of front cover. Otherwise in very good condition. Binding of book is tight. Some foxing of edges of book. A small stain on bottom edge. Endpapers in excellent condition. Spots of foxing and a few stains, of varying sizes across certain pages of book.
