It traces their beginning as Mesticos or Topazese, during the Portuguese era, 1511 to 1641; it relates their resistance and defience against Dutch persecution, 1641 to 1824; it describes their contribution in the development of Malaya during the British colonisation, 1824 to 1957; it reveals the atrocities they suffered during the Japanese war; their quest for Representation in an Independent Malaysia and their propensity to survive and propagate their language, tradition, religion and culture.

Binding of book is intact. Darkened covers with few stains, moderate shelfwear, some fraying and foxing on covers of book. Moderate tanning and foxing on edges of book. Annotations in pencil, some foxing, few waterstains and tearing on insides of covers. Slight foxing, creasing and few stains on certain pages, otherwise in good condition.
