Description

S. Carey, the Eau Claire, Wisconsin based multi-instrumentalist and Bon Iver collaborator, returns with Break Me Open, released April 22, 2022 on Jagjaguwar. The album confronts darkness and fear while exploring love from different angles, centering on themes of fatherhood, loss, and growth as Carey described in interviews. Musically, it pairs Carey's intimate vocals with expansive arrangements, including horns by CJ Camerieri and bass and drum contributions from Zach Hanson. Break Me Open marks a deeply personal, hopeful meditation on vulnerability and resilience.
