Black Messiah is the third studio album from D’Angelo and the Vanguard, released December 15, 2014 on RCA Records, merging neo-soul with funk and socially charged lyrics. The project features Questlove on drums and Pino Palladino on bass, with contributions from Kendra Foster and Q-Tip among others. Highlights include “Really Love,” “The Charade,” and “1000 Deaths,” which showcase D’Angelo’s powerful blend of intimate vocals and expansive grooves. A vinyl edition followed in March 2015, expanding the album for fans who want an analog listening experience.
