There is a solution to every problem. All it takes is a higher perspective. I am living proof that God can resolve the complexities of our internal challenges, and my journey has persuaded me that no matter what brokenness we experience in our lives, He has the power to make us whole again. All we have to do is look up. For years, I struggled with obsessive-compulsive thinking and behavior. I was paralyzed by irrational fear and plagued by intense psychological torment. Traversing through twisted mazes of broken logic, I eventually surrendered to the only Hope I had ever known. In the midst of darkness and confusion, I found the Light, and God revealed once again His undeniable power to deliver souls, transform thinking, and change lives forever.

For 3000 years a code in the Bible has remained hidden. Now it's been unlocked by computer. It may reveal the future. The code was broken by an Israeli mathematician, who presented the proof in a science journal. It has been confirmed by mathematicians around the world. This book is the 1st full account of a scientific discovery that may change the world, told by a skeptical secular reporter who became part of the story. The code foretells events that happened thousands of years after the Bible was written. It foresaw both Kennedy assassinations, the Oklahoma City bombing, the election of Clinton--everything from WWII to Watergate, from the Holocaust to Hiroshima, from the Moon landing to the collision of a comet with Jupiter. In a few dramatic cases detailed predictions were found in advance--& the events then happened exactly as predicted. The date the Gulf War would begin was found weeks before the war started. The date of the Jupiter collision was found months before the blast. The author of this book, investigative reporter Michael Drosnin, himself found the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin predicted in the Bible more than a year before the murder--& personally warned the Prime Minister. After the assassination, as predicted, when predicted, he was asked to brief the new Prime Minister of Israel & the chief of its intelligence agency, the Mossad. This book is based on Drosnin's five-year investigation. The author interviewed all the experts, here & abroad. He spent many weeks with the mathematician who discovered the code, Dr Eliyahu Rips, & he met with mathematicians at Harvard, Yale & Hebrew Univ. He talked to a senior code breaker at the US National Security Agency, who confirmed that there is a code in the Bible that reveals the future. No one yet knows if the Bible code accurately foretells what's yet to come. But the code may be a warning to this world of unprecedented danger, perhaps the real Apocalypse, a nuclear World War. In any event, the Bible code forces us to accept what the Bible itself can only ask us to believe--that we are not alone. Does the code describe an inevitable future, or a series of possible futures whose ultimate outcome we can still decide?

The Hour That Changes the World, first published by Baker in 1978, is a classic book on prayer that offers practical suggestions on how readers can revitalize their prayer lives. Dick Eastman challenges Christians to spend one hour each day in prayer, and he outlines a twelve-step prayer program to help them accomplish the task. By dividing one hour into twelve five-minute "points of focus," such as praise, waiting, confession, and Scripture praying, believers will develop a more consistent habit of daily prayer. The Hour That Changes the World draws heavily on Scripture and classic devotional writers and includes an appendix titled "Scriptural Intercession." This 25th anniversary edition features a new introduction by Eastman and a new foreword by Joni Eareckson Tada, in which she "The Hour That Changes the World may appear small and modest, but don't let its size fool you. Full of biblical insights about prayer, packed with testimonies of prayer warriors from years past, brimming with practical suggestions that will help you carve out a purposeful time of praise and intercession, Dick Eastman's book is arguably the most significant book on prayer written in modern times."
The Soul Of Science - Christian Faith And Natural Philosophy - Thryft
Sold out
"I consider The Soul of Science to be a most significant book which, in our scientific age, should be required reading for all thinking Christians and all practicing scientists. The authors demonstrate how the flowering of modern science depended upon the Judeo-Christian worldview of the existence of a real physical contingent universe, created and held in being by an omnipotent personal God, with man having the capabilities of rationality and creativity, and thus being capable of investigating it. Pearcey and Thaxton make excellent use of analogies to elucidate difficult concepts, and the clarity of their explanations for the nonspecialist, for example, of Einstein's relativity theories or of the informational content of DNA and its consequences for theories of prebiotic evolution, are quite exceptional, alone making the volume worth purchasing." --Dr. David Shotton, Lecturer in Cell Biology, Department of Zoology, University of Oxford"Pearcey and Thaxton show that the alliance between atheism and science is a temporary aberration and that, far from being inimical to science, Christian theism has played and will continue to play an important role in the growth of scientific understanding. This brilliant book deserves wide readership." --Phillip E. Johnson, University of California, Berkeley"This book would be an excellent text for courses on science and religion, and it should be read by all Christians interested in the relationship between science and their theological commitments." --J.P. Moreland, Professor of Philosophy, Talbot School of Theology, Biola University

Dr Wagner believes that Christian leaders need more intercession than other members of the Body of Christ; they bear extra responsibility; because of their function they are prey to satanic attack; they carry more influence and their failures affect more people. He argues carefully and biblically that prayer of Christian leaders is essential for the effectiveness of their ministry. He discusses the various kinds of intercession, how to recruit prayer partners, the vexed question of pastors' own prayer lives, and much more. Not everyone is called to the pulpit. But everyone is called to provide support for those who lead God's church.

In this response, he gives a strong and rational answer to Harris's claims and questions, such In Zacharias's compelling and uplifting response, he spells Dr. Zacharias's words are not only for those who have read the writings of the new atheists, but also for Christians who have felt their beliefs come under fire in the marketplace of ideas. This book might resonate with you if you're wrestling with questions about faith and reason. Geisler carefully dissects atheistic arguments, presenting a case for Christianity rooted in logic and evidence. It's perfect if you're seeking an intellectual foundation to either challenge or reaffirm your beliefs.
Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

If you've ever felt a disconnect in your spiritual life or can't shake the feeling that God seems distant, especially during tough times, "Disappointment with God" by Philip Yancey is a book that could speak to you. Yancey isn't afraid to tackle the questions that linger uncomfortably in the corners of a believer’s mind. This book could be a comforting companion, offering a path to understanding and rekindling a faith tested by the harsh realities of life.
Rob Bell, the beloved author of Love Wins and What We Talk About When We Talk About God, goes deep into the Bible to show how it is more revelatory, revolutionary, and relevant than we ever imagined—and offers a cogent argument for why we need to look at it in a fresh, new way.In Love Wins, Rob Bell confronted the troubling questions that many people of faith were afraid to ask about heaven, hell, fate, and faith. Using the same inspired, inquisitive approach, he now turns to our most sacred book, the Bible. What Is the Bible? provides insights and answers that make clear why the Bible is so revered and what makes it truly inspiring and essential to our lives.Rob takes us deep into actual passages to reveal the humanity behind the Scriptures. You cannot get to the holy without going through the human, Rob tells us. When considering a passage, we shouldn’t ask "Why did God say . . .?" To get to the heart of the Bible’s meaning, we should be asking: "What’s the story that’s unfolding here and why did people find it important to tell it? What was it that moved them to record these words? What was happening in the world at that time? What does this passage/story/poem/verse/book tell us about how people understood who they were and who God was at that time?" In asking these questions, Rob goes beyond the one-dimensional question of "is it true?" to reveal the Bible’s authentic transformative power.Rob addresses the concerns of all those who see the Bible as God’s Word but are troubled by the ethical dilemmas, errors, and inconsistencies in Scripture. With What Is the Bible?, he recaptures the Good Book’s magic and reaffirms its power and inspiration to shape and inspire our lives today.

In this day of the atheistic or agnostic stereotype that is attached to the man of science, it is refreshing to study the lives of eleven great scientists who professed Christ as their Lord and Savior and used what they learned to benefit others and glorify God. In the short biographies in Christian Men of Science , we are presented with a distilled version of each man’s scientific accomplishments and the evidences of his Christian faith. These testimonies demonstrate that true scientists can be genuine Christians, and that faith in God and the authority of the Bible is not a sign of inferior intellect. Christian Men of Science includes biographies of Johannes Kepler, Robert Boyle, David Brewster, Michael Faraday, Samuel Morse, Matthew Fontaine Maury, James Clerk Maxwell, Lord Kelvin, Howard Kelley, Henry Morris, and Walt Brown.

John Donne is best known as a poet of live, brilliantly able to recreate a man's experience of emotions and realities. But he is also a poet of the spiritual journey. His religious poems speak of shame, fear and self-concious complexity and doubt, but his sermons can soar into a word-music seldom equalled, or can condense theology into epigrams as witty as those which date from his youthful lusts. He fascinates because he is a man battered by sex - and by God. David Edwards has written an extremely readable book which ranges over all Donne's poetry and prose, and relates the literature to what is known or probable about his life. He takes twentieth-century research and criticism into careful account but aims to provide more than a detailed examination of a limited part of the subject. He is not sentimental about Donne's faults and limitations, and he does not try to sound superior to either the poet or the preacher. His aim is to achieve a portrait of a living man, a man who both suffered and gloried in his experience of flesh and spirit. David L. Edwards retired as Provost of Southwark Cathedral in 1994. He was formerly a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, Editor of the SCM Press, Dean of King's College, Cambridge, and a Canon of Westminster Abbey and the Speaker's Chaplain in the House of Commons.

“Jesus was an exemplary man and a great spiritual teacher—but I can’t believe that He was God.”“All religions teach roughly the same thing, so I just take the best from each one—and that’s my faith.”“Living a good life is enough to get me to heaven.” You’ve heard the remarks—they’re offered all the time to refute the unique claims of Christianity. But can you effectively respond to them? What do you say to New Agers, Muslims, Buddhists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or pluralists when their theology clashes with what you know to be the truth? This book, by a man whose work has allowed him to discuss religion with people all over the world, gives solid answers. After more than two decades of listening to questions about Jesus’ claims and objections to Christian doctrine, author Ajith Fernando responds to the arguments with Jesus’ own words and miracles and the biblical accounts about Him. But rather than just offering proof texts, he stands Christ—and Christianity—face to face with those competing idealogies and shows the truth. In doing so, he forges an apologetic that proves the legitimacy of our faith and validates the absolutism of Christianity.

If you do missions purely from a sense of duty you will not honor those you are reaching out to, nor will you truly honor God. Duty is the wrong place to look, so where do we find the answer to why we do missions? We turn, according to John Piper, to worship. // In our worship of God we encounter God's glory. The overflow from our worship is a desire to share God's glory with others (the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever), and we naturally become missional. When Jesus was asked what the kingdom of God was like, he compared it to a pearl so valuable that one would sell all they owned simply to possess it. Does that seem like duty to you? Instead, Jesus calls us to a new mindset, which flows from the mindset that worship creates in us. Thus, according to Piper, does worship become the goal of missions and the fuel which makes missions possible. // Worship as the fuel for missions makes sense to a lot of people, but worship as the goal of missions? Piper reminds us that the true reason we share God with others is to make them worshipers (and sharers) as well. He feels that the true goal of missions is "the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God." If it is true, (as Piper states) that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him," then increasing the number of people who are satisfied in God will bring God more glory. And missions is the way we can do that. // Missions must be seen as more than simply saving people from sin, though that is a very important aspect. And missions is not just about getting people into heaven, although that is important as well. Instead, through missions we should always seek to make as many people as possible into true worshipers, into those fully satisfied with the greatness of God. // With that mindset, missions becomes a joyous experience, as we joyfully share the life-changing presence of God in our lives with those who don't know God. When we have made worship both the fuel and goal of all our missionary endeavors, we realize that "missions is not a recruitment project for God's labor force. It is a liberation project from the heavy burdens and hard yokes of other gods." Missions is never a burden, because it comes out of our overwhelming joy in God's grace and mercy, and we just want to share that joy. So make God the center of your missions work, and joyfully share what He has graciously given to you.

Thomas Mertron (1951-1968), the Trappist monk and author, remains one of the most influential spiritual guides of the twentieth century. Beginning with his autobiography, The Seven Storey Mountain, and scores of other books, Merton's work reflects a living encounter between the traditions of Christian wisdom and the burning questions of the modern world: war and peace, the quest for meaning in the face of absurdity, and the need for dialogue with religious traditions of the East. This volume includes a broad range of Merton's writings, including his letters, and highlights his threefold call: to prayer, to compassion, and to unity.

"[Thich Nhat Hanh] shows us the connection between personal, inner peace and peace on earth." --His Holiness The Dalai LamaNominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for a Nobel Peace Prize, Thich Nhat Hanh is one of today’s leading sources of wisdom, peace, compassion and comfort. The 20th anniversary edition of the classic text, updated, revised, and featuring a Mindful Living Journal.Buddha and Christ, perhaps the two most pivotal figures in the history of humankind, each left behind a legacy of teachings and practices that have shaped the lives of billions of people over two millennia. If they were to meet on the road today, what would each think of the other's spiritual views and practices? Thich Nhat Hanh has been part of a decades-long dialogue between two great contemplatice traditions, and brings to Christianity an appreciation of its beauty that could be conveyed only by an outsider. IN lucid, meditative prose, he explores the crossroads of compassion and holiness at which the two traditions meet, and he reawakens our understanding of both. "On the altar in my hermitage," he says, "are images of Buddha and Jesus, and I touch both of them as my spiritual ancestors."
